MATERIALITY OF SPACE:
AN EXPERIENTIAL EXPLORATION
This assignment is designed to introduce us building materials that are commonly used in the construction industry. The spaces or building selected to study will allow us to understand the reasoning behind choices made by designers in terms of concepts, function use, environmental response, structural requirement, availability of resources and et cetera when proposing building materials.
In groups of 5, we select a RELIGIOUS building and explore the building materials covered in the module based on that building. Next, we are to digitally produce 8 A2 boards, 3 as a group and one individual board from each of based on our research and perception.
Our team selected Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya as our case study.

REFLECTION:
Throughout the assignment, I am able to produce a complete documentation and analysis of materials in respect to physical and chemical properties. I also able identify the various types of building materials. Next, I can understand the effects of building materials on aesthetics and structural qualities of a space or building. I am more uderstand with the appropriateness of material used in context of several factors such as occupancy, concept and climate. I also acquire analytical skill in understanding selection of building materials for a building/ design.
