PROJECT 2: TECHNICAL DRAWING

PROJECT 2A:

ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION

Project 2A is divided into two parts

i)  Plans, Sections and Elevations of Drafting Table

ii) Plans, Sections and Elevations of Cooper Residence by Charles Gwathmey.

PROJECT 2B:

AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION

Axonometric drawing is an excellent method of communicating and expressing an architectural idea – be it as a diagram at a fairly early stage of the design process (ie. conceptual expression) or as a presentation aid upon finalization of your design.

Following the demonstration in the lecture, use pencil and butter paper to generate axonometric drawing of a building. You are to refer to your orthographic drawings AND the documents for measurements and information throughout this exercise. After having confidently constructed your drawing in pencil, proceed to trace your final ink drawing on tracing paper.

PROJECT 2C:

PERSPECTIVE

This assessment introduces perspective as a mode of communication in architecture. You are required to construct firstly, one exterior (two-point) perspective followed by one sectional interior perspective (onepoint).

REFLECTION:

Throughout these projects, I learnt the importance of technical drawing in construction firm. An architect should equip the basic understanding of technical drawing. I learnt how to draw with technical pen before i proceed to Autocad drawing. I also learnt to render with pen. I learnt the steps to draw a perspective in one-point and two-point.
